Neree Lowenstein Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Springer and Son - Aloha Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 18, 2026.
Neree passed away at home at the age of 98 peacefully with family by her side.

Neree was born near Vayland, South Dakota at her parent's farmhouse. She graduated from high school in the top 10 of her class. She first attended Huron College and transferred to Aberdeen Northern to receive her teaching certificate and began teaching in a one room school house. She met her husband of 58 years ( Joseph Lowenstein), they were married 12/31/1946 and began a family. They moved from South Dakota to Oregon in 1950. After having 6 children she went back to work being a teacher's assistant at Beaver Acres elementary school. She loved camping, game night, monthly potlucks, making comforters, sports and getting the family together for Christmas. For years you would see her in the Aloha High School bleachers watching football, wrestling and baseball. Later she became involved with the Winterhawks hockey team and for many years helped sell programs. She loved the Winterhawk road ( bus) trips and rarely missed a game!

A long time resident of Aloha Oregon, Neree was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lowenstein, Daughter Glenda Lowenstein, her brother Dick Major and sister Nadine Matthews. She is survived by her children, Pat McGuire ( Casey) of Portland Oregon, Mike Lowenstein of Bay City, Oregon, Jeanine Brown ( Ken ) of Aloha, Oregon, Jack Lowenstein ( Karen) of Prineville Oregon , Jim Lowenstein ( Stefan) of Portland, Oregon, Sister Mardelle Brown of Tulare, South Dakota and sister in law Mary Major of Wessington, South Dakota. 10 Grand children, 19 great grand-children and 1 Great, Great grandchild.

Funeral mass will be at St. Cecilia Catholic church March 3, 2026 beginning at 11:00 am. Followed by a procession to Willamette National Cemetery where there will be brief ceremony at 1:30. A celebration of her life will follow at her home in Hillsboro. The family welcomes donations to any youth sports organizations (ie: Aloha Baseball or Aloha Softball).
