Henry Max Birdsong, 94, of Excelsior Springs, Mo, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Oakridge Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in Richmond, Missouri after a battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on November 25th, 1930, in Clarksburg Missouri to J. Warren and Olive (Groom) Birdsong. He Graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1949.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from November 16th, 1950, to November 6th, 1953 during the Korean War. He later went to Technical School and specialized in electronics. Max married Patricia Russell in 1958 and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 27, 2020, as husband and wife. They shared 62 years of love, laughter, and an unwavering partnership raising 3 boys. Max was a member of the First Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs in which he served as a Deacon for several years and later became a member of the Second Baptist Church in Liberty, Mo, which he attended with his wife until they were no longer capable.

Max worked for Jackson's Hardware for 27 years in Richmond, Mo. in television/vcr, radio, and appliance repair and later worked for Lenz's Machinery in Kansas City where he retired from in 1993.

Max was an incredible father, loving husband, and grandfather. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and instilled his Christian faith into his 3 sons. He dearly loved his family and friends, and they all dearly loved him. Max and Pat enjoyed traveling and seeing the sites of this great country and visiting family. He enjoyed the outdoors tremendously and was an avid quail, turkey, deer hunter and loved fishing for crappie and bass. One of his favorite spots was just sitting on the front porch and watching the world go by. His smile and kind heart will always be remembered and deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Birdsong, on June 29th 2020, mother, Olive Birdsong and his father, Warren Birdsong, his first son, Russell Brett Birdsong, two sisters Mary Ward and Betty Birdsong, and one brother, Paul Birdsong.

He is survived by his sons, Todd Birdsong of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Bryce Birdsong of Austin, Texas, and his sons, Drew and Max, and Chad Birdsong and his wife LezLee of Richmond Mo., and her daughter, CayLee and her husband Justin Shaw, of South Ogden, Utah. He is also survived by his sister Sarah Margaret Donely of California Mo., and his twin brother, Dean Birdsong of Clarksburg Mo., and many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday September 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM at the Bowlin Cantriel Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO with Pastor Art Endsley officiating.
