Hita Birdsong Obituary
Birdsong, Hita Frank, Sr., 83, of Chester, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his late wife of 55 years, Virginia Birdsong; parents, Frank Hita Birdsong and Marian Fernsler; two sons, Michael and Matthew Birdsong; grandson, Brandon Birdsong; and brothers, Morris and Richard Birdsong. Frank loved being a father and grandfather, camping, music, going to the Moose Lodge, and being a husband. Late in life, Frank found a second chapter of happiness and love and is survived by his current wife, Ernestine "Sharyn" Birdsong, of three years; and his children, Hita Frank Birdsong, Jr. (Peggy), Pamela Birdsong (Jay), Deborah Baylor (Sam), Rebecca Vaughan (Tim), Stephen Birdsong (Amy), Sara Joyner (Lenny), Virginia Hensley (Chris), Patricia Fraley (Doug), and Theresa Burley (Chris); twenty-six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Dale Bishop; two brothers, Herman and Sam Birdsong; and four stepchildren through his marriage to Sharyn (Gerald, Beth, Samantha, and Bailie).
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831, between 6 until 8 p.m. His service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, at 11 a.m., with interment immediately following service at Sunset Memorial Park. There will be a reception following services at Chesterfield Moose Lodge at 9500 Rte 1, Richmond, VA 23237.
