Henry Colón: Dad, Coach, Friend
We are heartbroken to share the passing of Henry Luis Colón Jr. on July 6, 2025, at the age of 50. Henry was born on August 28, 1974, in Bridgeport. CT and grew up in Dorchester, MA, as a proud "Dot Rat". He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deborah, his children, Bailey, Reese, and Henry, and his mother, Clara Rosado. Henry "Coach" Colón committed his life to impacting hundreds of young people through nearly three decades of athletic mentorship. A vibrant presence on the football field, basketball court, and track, Coach leaves behind multiple communities that have been influenced by his leadership-wrapping up his career on the sidelines with the Bridgewater State University women's basketball program. Effortlessly personable and unwaveringly determined, Coach's magic was tangible. His commitment to excellence extended well beyond any scoreboard; he genuinely cared about leaving organizations-and their people-better than when he found them. Coach knew when to offer guidance without judgment, provide a shoulder to cry on, lend a loving ear, or simply display an infectious laugh and smile. He cheered on his people loudly, treating small wins as importantly as championship victories. Coach's lifelong relationships, established by athletics, are a testament to the love that was returned to him. However, to Henry, there was nothing that was more important than his family. He beamed with pride when he talked about his children: Bailey, Reese, and Henry. He taught his forever team how to lead with empathy, fight through adversity, and above all, take care of each other through life's challenges. Henry's greatest accomplishments were never the trophies; they were the people he raised. A church service will be held at St. Mary's Parish (313 Court St. in Plymouth, MA) on Saturday, July 19 at 10 a.m., followed by a casual gathering at John Alden Club's outdoor pavilion (16 Minuteman Lane in Plymouth, MA) from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., where Coach's loved ones are invited to eat, laugh, and share fond memories of his remarkable life. We kindly request attendees to bring a note with a fond memory of Coach, so that Bailey, Reese, and Henry can read about their dad's everlasting impact.
