Henry Francis Hafer, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky, and later attended the University of Kentucky. Henry began his career with IBM in Lexington in 1958, transferring to Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1963. In 1972, he was promoted to management and relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked until his retirement.
Henry was a devoted member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #799, Jaycees, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, living their values of fellowship, integrity, and service throughout his life. He found great joy in his family and friends and loved spending time fishing, traveling, and sharing stories that brought laughter to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Hafer. Henry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Cynthia Jones (Robin) and Beverly Brosenitsch (Tim); daughter-in-law Linda Hafer; grandchildren, Amanda Hafer, Daniel Jones, Tara Stanek, Matthew Jones, Emily Stanek, Sean Stanek, and Sarah Higdon (Caleb); great-grandchildren, Chloe Stanek and Lexi Stanek Williams; siblings, Donna Kendall, Robert Hafer, and Jerry Hafer; and many nieces and nephews. Henry will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on through his family and all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
American Diabetes Association or the
American Heart Association. Visitation will be from 11:30 PM -12:30 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025. A Funeral service will be held at the Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road at 12:30 PM.
