Henry Laun Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright Funeral Home - Randolph on Jan. 16, 2025.
Henry F. Laun, of Randolph, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 2, 1941, in Boston, Henry spent his formative years in the city of Boston, attending local schools and growing into a man of strong character and warmth.
Henry was the son of the late Henry and Eileen (Colbert) Laun. His life was further blessed with the joy of his own family when he married the late Carol (Bova) Laun, with whom he shared the joys and challenges of raising a loving family. He was father to Mathew Laun of Hanover, Yvette, Derek, and Jeff, and the late Henry F. "Nacho" Laun, Jr. His sister Carol Greenough of Hyde Park and Denise Leahy of Rockland, along with his late brother Kenneth Laun, complete the family circle that Henry held so dear.
Henry's story is one of service and dedication. After being raised in Dorchester, he chose to serve his country with honor and valor. His military career included two years in the United States Air Force and an additional five years in the Army. During this time, he completed multiple tours in the Vietnam War, before his assignments took him to Germany and eventually Fort Dix in New Jersey. His commitment to his nation was a defining aspect of his character, a source of pride for his family and friends.
Upon returning to civilian life, Henry applied the same level of dedication to his work as a binder for a book making company, where he remained for many years. His work ethic and reliability made him a valued employee and a respected colleague.
Henry's interests reflected his love for community and camaraderie. In his youth, he enjoyed spending time in Randolph and Brockton, places that held fond memories for him throughout his life. For over 25 years, he could often be found at the Randolph Amvets Post, where he cherished the companionship of his fellow veterans. These friendships formed the backbone of his social life and provided a supportive community that he treasured deeply.
Above all, Henry's greatest joy was found in the company of his family and friends. His love for them was evident in every action, every decision, and every moment he shared with them. His presence was a source of comfort and happiness, and his absence will leave a void that cannot be filled.
Those who knew Henry will remember him as a loving father, a devoted brother, and a kind and friendly soul. His laughter and gentle spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. Henry's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of familial bonds.
As we bid farewell to Henry F. Laun, we reflect on a life well-lived-a life filled with service, work, joy, and above all, love. His memory will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, his friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
