Henry E. Lloyd, Jr., age 78, of Landenberg, PA, passed away on April 14, 2025 after a long illness. Hank was born in Salem, NJ to Henry E. Lloyd, Sr. and Adele Iepson Lloyd. He had a lifelong interest in science and graduated from Drexel with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He met his wife Mary at Drexel in a Probability and Statistics class during his Junior year. They were married a week after graduation and celebrated their 55th anniversary last year.
While at Drexel, Hank had a memorable co-op experience at the Great Canadian Oil Sands in Alberta, Canada with its frigid temperatures, close calls with bears and beautiful views of the Northern Lights. He continued his career in the oil industry at the Delaware City Refinery for 34 years, starting with Getty Oil Company and retiring from Motiva Enterprises. He served six years in the Delaware National Guard.
Hank loved the seashore and spent his childhood summers at his grandfather's house in Wildwood Crest. He always loved the Jersey shore, especially Cape May, but in later years he became an even bigger fan of the coast of Maine, first in Bar Harbor and then in Ogunquit. He loved to travel, especially to the U.S. National Parks, but also had wonderful memories of trips to Hawaii, Canada, Europe and Africa. He loved nature and being outside. He walked five miles every day and enjoyed catching up with neighbors and giving treats to their dogs. He was a hard-working and generous person who believed that acts of kindness make the world a better place. Above all, he was completely devoted to his family.
Hank was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary, his son Michael, his daughter Kimberly Levesque, her husband Joseph, their children Anna and Sean, and his sister Sandra Lloyd.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staffs of Unit 6E and AccentCare Hospice at Christiana Hospital and Willow Tree Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Hank.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Saturday, April 26, 2024, from 9:00am – 10:30am. A funeral service will begin at 10:30am; and interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Ministry of Caring, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or another charity of your choice.

To the Lloyd family from the Ministry of Caring 'family': Our sympathy and prayers are with you during this very sad time. May your memories of joyful family times bring you comfort and may God's love give you peace. Thank you for remembering Hank's life of love of family, joy at the shore and the coast and travel by caring for the poorest among us, especially the children. We are grateful for your kindness.

Psalm 73:26: My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
