Henry "Hank" Porter, age 46, of Breese, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025. He was born on December 5, 1978 to Ken and Carolyn (Wintermann) Porter. He was the beloved younger brother of Carol (Steve) Hilmes and Dorothy (Allan) Elling, the older brother of Paul (Arthurina) Porter, and the uncle of Heather (Clint) Uselton, John Hilmes, Samantha Elling, Talice Porter, and great niece and nephews.

Born and raised in Breese, IL, he was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Breese. In his youth he was a rowdy but good son and brother who participated in Scouting, high-school band, and got up to low-level mischief with his friends and family. It was during his youth, after a trip to visit family in Indiana, that Henry took on the moniker of Hank. It was a perfect fit.

Hank will be remembered as a kind, funny, often-stubborn but always good-hearted man that was loved by his family and friends more than he knew. He was a friend to all he met, the kind that you could count on to strike up a conversation with any passerby. Along with being a people-person, Hank was a character like no other. If you knew him then you may have your own story of his antics; those of us that knew him long have many, and we will continue to share them time and time again.

Hank had a wide range of interests, especially in the arts. He was an artist that enjoyed sharing his paintings and poetry with his family and friends. He loved music and film from all eras and discussing the merits with others. Hank also loved dogs, especially his beloved Maggie, Tyke, and Finn.

As he got older, Hank became increasingly more devote in his Christian faith. His faith steadied him and gave him strength throughout his life. Hank's presence in the lives of his family and friends will be dearly missed, but will never diminish.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Rev. James Donahue officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks may be made to Carol Hilmes) and will be received at the funeral home or by mail Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th, Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
