Rev. Henry Edward Rogers Sr.

Rev. Henry Edward Rogers, Sr., 96, of Laurens and loving husband to the late Marguerite Brannon Rogers, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Martha Franks Retirement Community.

Born on December 20, 1929, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Cleatus Rogers and Elsie Hyatt Rogers. Henry's journey of service began in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. It was during his time in the Air Force that he was licensed to the Gospel Ministry at FBC Waco, TX. His calling led him to be ordained at Dunean Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, marking the beginning of a remarkable 40-year career as a Southern Baptist Minister. He studied at Furman University and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. Henry served as the pastor of Bethabara, Lowndesville, Friendship and First Baptist Gray Court. Even in retirement, he continued to serve as an interim pastor at several churches always committed to his church and its members.

Even in his later years, while residing at Martha Franks Community, Henry continued his ministry, volunteering at the Billy Graham call center and offering guidance and support to those in need. In his free time, Henry enjoyed gardening, reading, and sports, particularly college football and women's college basketball.

Henry's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication to his family. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather, whose humble and kind nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Eddie Rogers (Tahnee) and Lisa Simmons (Clayton); grandchildren, Oneil Abercrombie (Andalib), John Abercrombie, Riley Rogers, Hank Rogers, Luke Rogers, Brent Simmons, and Hunter Simmons (Madeline); great grandchildren, Isla Abercrombie and Joseph Simmons.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Pat Root.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Retirement Community conducted by Rev. Joey Estes and Rev. Paul Turner. The family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony.

The family will be at their respective homes.
