Bruce Eugene Ford, age 80, of Laurens, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Born on October 24, 1945, in Laurens, SC, he was the son of the late Gene Ford and Ethel Best Ford. He lived in Laurens the remainder of his life. Bruce graduated from Ford High School in 1963, where he excelled in academics and lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He started his work career at the age of 18 at the 3M Company, then the GE Company, and finally retired in 2010 from CeramTec in Laurens. He was a Specialist 4 of the SC National Guard retiring in 1972 after 6 years of service. Bruce was an avid bass fisherman, having won multiple tournaments over the years, making lifelong friends. He was well known in the Laurens District 55 high school sports community as a member of the Century Club and a loyal member of the Booster Club. He was also known as a big fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks, especially the Lady Gamecocks basketball games. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.

Bruce is survived by his two children, son, Brian E. Ford and daughter Lisa Ford Burton; brother, Marvin Rhodes (Patsy); and a sister, Dianne Ford Summer. Another great love of his life were his 4 grandchildren, Erika Ford Martin (Josh), Kali Ford (Bradley), Brady Leigh Alford, Justin Alford (fiancée Trinity Perini); 3 great grandchildren, Layton Davis, Braxton Ford, Alix Tate Stribling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by two sisters, Wilma Rhodes Orvin and Frances Ford Crain.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at The Kennedy Mortuary from 4:00–5:00 PM.

A funeral service will be held at 5pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Chaplain Kevin Elliott with Military Honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the LDHS Athletic Booster Club, 5058 HWY 76 West, Laurens, SC 29360.
