Our dependable, hardworking, caring dad went to Heaven to be with Jesus on June 18, 2024. Henry J. Schabel was born on June 3, 1932 in Lastrup, Minnesota to John and Margaret (Kahlhamer) Schabel. He spent most of his young life on a farm near Mayville and he married Diane De Lorme on October 8, 1955. They had a happy life and were blessed with 66 years of marriage. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1951 and joined the Army in 1952 until 1954. He was stationed in Paris.

Henry worked for Dodge County after high school for 5 years. He had a sausage route "Old Hickory" for 17 years. His last 23 years he worked at Mercury Marine in Plant 17. He retired in 1994.
He enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader and coached Little League baseball for 13 years in St. Peter. He volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul for 15 years. He also volunteered for Broken Bread. He was a Packer season ticket holder and attended many home games and several fun filled away games. He went on great trips in the US and several out of the country. His travel companions, Don and Kathy Osborn were his best friends. He also loved his garden and woodworking.
