Henry M. "Harry" Shahnamian

HENRY (HARRY) MICHAEL SHAHNAMIAN (88), of Milford, MA. Passed away on Saturday morning January 29, 2022, at Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital. He was a lifetime resident of the town of Milford, MA.
Harry was born in Milford in the Prospect Height section at his parents' home. He attended St. Mary's grammar & High School.
He was an American Veteran and served two years in the Milford National Guard in the 60MM mortar section, achieving a perfect score of 300. He also served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War.
He was the Commander of the Armenian-American Veterans of Milford in the year of his marriage in 1968. He held all the posts. He was also a charter member of post 2008 in Belmont, MA.
He was Scoutmaster of Pack 4, St. Mary's of Milford for one year and then helped for 15 more years.
He was named "Honorary Major" at the 58th Annual Prospect Height reunion recently.
Harry was also a long-time trustee on the Vernon Grove Cemetery committee.
He started his career at Milford Daily Newspaper and then eventually worked for the Woonsocket Call (R.I) for 41 years. He retired at age 65 and then drove special needs children to different schools for the next 10 years after his retirement from the paper. After 10 years of driving, he retired for good to pursue the life of leisure. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to the gym for his silver sneakers classes.
He married in 1968 to Sosy (Susan Hovsepian) formally of Roxbury, MA. whom he met in Asbury Park, N.J. in 1959. They were married for 41 years until death, did they part, of her passing in 2009.
He was predeceased by his mother Myram (Mary Kartian) Shahnamian and Mateos (Mike) Shahnamian whom he lived with his father for 10 years until his passing. He was also predeceased by two sisters, one brother, Irene Garabedian, Rose Missirlian and Paul Shahnamian.
He is survived by his son Stephan P. Shahnamian and his wife Tracy Pevzner of Franklin, his daughter Sandra A. (Shahnamian) Taft and her husband Wayne Taft of Mendon. Cherished grandfather of Lucas Shahnamian, Sydney Shahnamian, Aram Taft and Kurstin Taft.
Calling hours for Harry will be held on Friday, February 11th from 4-7 P.M. at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.
Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, February 12th at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 17 Winter Street, Milford.
