Henry “Hank” Sixkiller, "Big Iron," age 81, of Whiterocks Road, passed away December 31, 2024, at his home.

He was born September 10, 1943, in Ft. Duchesne, to Ruben and Lena Denver Sixkiller. He grew up in his parents home in the inner circle of Ft. Duchesne and attended school at Alterra High School. He bought and read many comic books as a kid and kept his passion for reading until his death. He would often say, “If people would just leave me alone, I could finish this book in two nights!” He was an avid sportsman and received a baseball scholarship at Snow College. He played on the American Legion Baseball team where he was known as “Indian.”

Hank served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and later, shortly after “9-11", he worked as a sky marshal. He was a member of the Ft. Duchesne Veterans of Foreign War.

He worked for most of his life as a Special Agent for the United States Forest Service, retiring from Hoosier National Forest in Bedford, Indiana. Hank had a great sense of humor and liked to tease his family, and also liked to talk and visit with anyone. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, but also cheered on the St. Louis Cardinals because that was his grandson, Christopher’s, team. He enjoyed banana Moon Pies, Circus Peanuts, hunting, fishing, and always dressed immaculately. He attended many law enforcement memorial services.

Hank was a proud man, who was loved by many, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be very much missed.

Hank is survived by his children, Carrie Graham, Seymour, IN; Christy Sixkiller (Jeffery Johnson), Lousville, KY; grandchildren, Richard Henry Sixkiller, Theron Lewis, Jr., Couszha Johnson, Brandon Sixkiller; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack Sixkiller, Roosevelt; Joann (Robert) Yazzie, Ft. Duchesne; Marie Sixkiller, Vernal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ronda Sixkiller; grandson, Christopher Sixlkiller; siblings, Mary Sixkiller, Denver Sixkiller, Judy Mojado, Walt Sixkiller, Ruben “Rang” Sixkiller Jr., Pearl Ewing, and Kathleen Olsen.

Per his wishes he was cremated. There will be a burial of cremated remains with Military Honors at a later date.
