Herbert Burl Barker Jr., a cherished family man and respected entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Waxahachie, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on June 15, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, Herbert's life was one of determination, hard work, and love for his family.
Herbert, left behind a legacy of strength and compassion. His son, Herbert B Barker III, and daughter-in-law Linda of Red Oak, TX, his daughter Jenny Barker of
Rowlett, TX, his beloved grandchildren, Kelly Scott and her husband Justin Scott of Kaufman, TX, grandson Herbert B Barker IV and his wife Caitlynne Barker of Ennis, TX, and great-grandchild Avery Scott will be deeply missed. His sister, Nancy Wright, and brothers, Wally Barker and Johnny Barker, will fondly remember him.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Frederica "Sugie" Lane Wachsmann Barker, whom he married in Fort Worth, TX, in January of 1955. Their love story was cut short by her passing, but the memories they created together continue to live on through their children and grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Sleuter and Betty Walker.
While Herbert's formal education concluded when he entered the 5th grade to support his mother and five siblings, his real-world education propelled him to success in the business world. With a natural knack for entrepreneurship, he founded Barker Drywall Supply, a testament to his tenacity and business acumen. His company not only thrived in drywall contracting but also became a leading provider in drywall supply, owing to Herbert's hard work and dedication.
Outside of his professional life, was an avid hockey fan, and he followed his wife's hot air ballooning. Above all, Herbert's greatest interest was his family
