The service celebrating Herbert's life is Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, with Rev. Mike Emeott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Along with his parents, Herbert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Rawlins Johnson. He is survived by his children, Gary Johnson, Sherri Wood and her husband Thomas; grandchildren, Kimberly Rich (Derrick), Brandon Johnson, Joey Wood (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Caroline Wood, A.J. Wood, Harper Rich, Blakely Rich, and his siblings, Linda Pierce (John), Betty Elderkin (Effie), and Ruth Gaken (Bob).
