Herbert L. Moyer

Herbert L. Moyer, age 88, of Harleysville, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane (Ziegler) Moyer, with whom he shared nearly 53 years of marriage.
Born February 28,1936 in Sellersville, PA he was a son of the late James and Laura (Kratz) Moyer.
Herb graduated from Souderton Area High School in 1954, married his high school sweetheart in 1956 and served in the US Navy from 1954-58, based in Key West, FL. He served as a diver doing underwater work and participated in rescue missions. Following his service, he returned to PA and worked in construction. He became a self-employed General Contractor for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing with friends, watching wildlife in his yard, fishing in Canada, and cheering on the Philadelphia sports teams. Over the past 10 years he has truly enjoyed breakfast get- togethers with his friends at the Heritage Restaurant.
During the 1980's he served as the GC during the construction of homes on the family farm for three of his children, and assisted with many renovations in Metamora, IL, Lititz, PA and Souderton, PA over the years. He never hesitated to help with woodworking projects.
Herb was a lifetime member of the Harleysville Lions Club and enjoyed serving his community.
Herbert and Mary Jane were members of Salford Mennonite Church, but he has been attending Penn Valley Church with his daughter and son-in-law for the past 2 years.
He is survived by his children Beth Ann Wierwille and her husband Clyde, Eric Z. Moyer and his wife Carla, Clark Z. Moyer and his wife Julie, all of Harleysville, Dean Z. Moyer and his wife Lori of Metamora, IL, Todd Z. Moyer and his wife Amy of Lititz, PA; grandchildren Laura Landes and her husband Bryan of Souderton, Evan Moyer and his wife Rita of Harleysville, Collin Moyer and his wife Emily of Shippensburg, Adam Moyer of Philadelphia, Hannah and Aaron Moyer of Lititz; great-grandchildren Liza and Emme Landes, Riley Franklin and Liem Moyer; brother James Fred Moyer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents and wife, Herbert was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Moyer and daughter-in-law Lucy Moyer.
A visitation for Herbert will take place from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford. Graveside services and Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions in Herbert's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
