Herbert Pulley, age 85, of Waynesboro, TN, passed away on November 5, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1940, in Waynesboro, TN, he was the cherished son of the late Clifford E. and Nadine Gordan Pulley.
Herbert dedicated many years of his life to his work as a towboat engineer at Crounce Corp., a profession that suited his strong character and dependable nature. On March 18, 1981, he married his beloved Cordie E. Pulley, who became his partner in all walks of life until her passing on January 14, 2022.
A devoted member of the Waynesboro First Baptist Church, Herbert's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He proudly served as Chief of the Beech Creek Volunteer Fire Department, where he exemplified leadership and commitment to the safety of his community.
Herbert had a passion for sharing the fruits of his labor, often seen selling fresh vegetables and engaging with friends and neighbors in heartfelt conversations. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Rita Kay Anderson of Waynesboro, TN, and Janet Ledford (John) of Columbia, TN; stepdaughters, Linda Vaughn (Robert) of Iva, SC, and Teresa Pope (Craig) of Killen, AL; stepson, Steve Jones (Judy) of Lawrenceburg, TN; sister, Mary Bryant (David) of Murfreesboro, TN; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Pulley; and sister, Joyce Staggs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN with Bobby Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Warren Cemetery in Waynesboro, TN.
