Herbert Christian Rehm

Herbert Christian Rehm, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (née Dennison), with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Herbert was a devoted father to Heidi Capetola (Angelo) and Brian Rehm (Elizabeth); a proud and loving Opa to Cali, Casey, Kelsey, and Christian; and a dear brother to Werner Rehm. Herbert was predeceased by other siblings, Hilde Peluzzo and Günther Rehm. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Born in Frauenauarach, Germany, Herbert was the son of Christian Rehm and Babette (née Nein). He grew up in Erlangen, Germany. At the age of 19, he immigrated to the United States in 1954, and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1960. He married the love of his life, Elaine, in 1969.

Herbert served his country honorably as a soldier in the United States Army. After being discharged from the army, he worked at the Penn Ventilator Company for several years, and then at Crown Cork and Seal Company, where he worked as a stationary engineer from 1969 until his retirement in 1999. After he retired, Herbert volunteered as a library aide alongside Elaine, who was the librarian at the Mayfair Elementary School until her retirement in 2012.

Herb was deeply involved and proud of his German heritage. He became a member of the Bayerischer Volksfest Verein in 1963 and served as Director and Secretary on the Board for 47 years. He was also a member of the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein, and in recent years enjoyed fellowship as a member of St. Martha's Seniors.

As a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, Herb always enjoyed watching games on TV and in person. One memorable event was attending the 1983 NBA Finals with Heidi and Brian.

Above all else, Herbert will be remembered as a good, positive, and kind-hearted man who cherished his family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to Herbert's Life Celebration on Saturday, February 7, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Martha's Church, 11301 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately.
