Herbert Lowell Weiser, 94, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on December 29, 2025.
As a man of faith, Herbert was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls. He was from the West Mansfield / Byhalia area and graduated from Byhalia High School in 1949. From an early age, Herbert learned the value of hard work, helping on the family farm in Union County / West Mansfield. He later became a skilled tradesman, working as a tool and die maker after completing an apprenticeship.
Herbert was proud to be part of the founding crew members at Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills, from where he would retire after many years of dedicated service. His creativity showed early in life when he wrote an award-winning song “Fairlady Moon” in sixth grade, reflecting his thoughtful, artistic spirit. His family will cherish memories of him singing a few lines of his song over the years.
When he was able, Herbert enjoyed outdoor activities in his earlier years, especially hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was also a former Sportsman Club member and took pride in raising beagles. Above all, Herbert had a soft heart, especially for his beloved pug who held a special place in his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donabel Weiser; his parents, Herbert and Fannie Louise Weiser; siblings, Velda Allen (Howard), Helen Lucille Green Brugger (Paul Green & DeArle Brugger), James (Lib) Weiser, and Betty (Bobby) Fridemaker; cherished grandson, Daniel Dretar; and his daughter-in-law, Jane Weiser.
Herbert is lovingly survived by his children, Mardee (David) Hertzig of Cuyahoga Falls, Connie (David) Dretar of New Franklin, and Douglas Weiser (Abbie Loft) of Sarasota, Florida. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Jason Hertzig (Jen Pintiello), Jennifer (Ryan) Stoner, and Kelly (Dan) Malek, and a cherished great-grandfather to Kaitlyn, Lindsey, Zaya, and Azalyn. Herbert is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Private services have been held, and he was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for the compassionate care and support given to Herbert and the entire family.
Herbert’s life was marked by hard work, faith, love for family, and quiet kindness. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
