Herbert Joseph "Herb" Welch, age 85 died Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his home In Sunset Beach, NC.
Herb was born on April 10, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY to Arthur J. and Lillian Maresca Welch.
Herb is survived by his wife: Carol Mary Gerdes Welch; sons: Kurt Welch of Raleigh, NC; Kevin Welch of Charlotte, NC; daughter: Michele Barczynski of Sunset Beach, NC; sister: Eileen Walsh of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Kimberly and Kristopher Welch, Kelly Joyce; Michelle, Bethany and Meghan Wenner; great grandchildren: Milo and Murphy Joyce, Braxton Wintermote; and Luciana Wenner-Severson.
Herb was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A due paying 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus since the 70's, he worked 2 jobs tirelessly for 15 years to support the family prior to his retirement in 1994. Golf and baseball were his favorite pastimes. So much so, he built his dream home on the tee of beautiful par 5 and his annual getaway was to Lakeland Florida to watch minor league baseball spring training.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan Catholic Church 5101 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC with interment following in the church columbarium.
The family will receive friends in Brendan Hall following the interment.
