Herchel Douglas Johnson, “HD”, age 92 of Clarksville, TN passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024.
Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. The Johnson family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Herchel was born on May 3, 1932, in Bowling Green, KY, son of the late Hershel and Winnie Meador Johnson. He was retired from The US Army and served as an Airborne Trooper. He also served in the Special Forces. Having served two tours in the Korean Conflict and one tour in the Vietnam War. Herchel received two Bronze Stars while serving in Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Marie Johnson and brother, James Johnson.
Survivors include his children Johnny (Jamie) Johnson, Keith (Julie) Johnson, Steven (Rose) Johnson and Sheila Wilbanks; brother, Daryl Johnson; grandchildren, Mitchell Johnson, Jerrod Johnson, Jessica Pruitt, Leslie Post, Katie Bonds, Jennifer Wilbanks, and Matthew Anders; great-grandchildren, John Young, Waylon Young, CheyAnne McElhiney, Jaden Pruitt, Jaela Pruitt, Jasen Pruitt, Owen Post, Claire Bonds, Ruby Bonds, Jackson Anders, Addy Anders, Kobe Johnson, Halle Johnson, Reese Staggs, MJ Johnson, and Witney Johnson.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
