Herman R. "Dick" Cowan, 98, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Monday November 17, 2025 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Hospital. Born February 21,1927 in Johnstown to Herman and Florence (Barker) Cowan. Preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; and his grandson, Zachary.

Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Flo ( Bodenschatz);his children: Richard (Debra Good), Raymond (Janette Rullo), Jeanie, Kathy (Scott Miller), and Berni (Bruce Goodwin); his grandchildren: Chris & Molly, Ryan & Vanessa, Eric & Lauren, Matt, Jennifer & Brian Omahne, Samantha & Christopher Hartland, Kristen & Kevin Brandel, Meg, Kelsey; and his great grandchildren; Caleigh, Andrew, Colby, Mckinley, Camdyn, Jocelyn, Jordyn, Joy, Shane, and Grant; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors & friends.

He was a Naval Air Force WWII Veteran and Assistant Chief with City of Johnstown Fire Department for 41 Years. Dick also was a Funeral Driver with Johnstown Hearse for 42 years. A member of the International Association of Firefighters, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, and VFW Post #155

Dick was a hard worker and a master wood craftsman, who spent his time in his shed building meaningful & beautiful pieces for his family and loved ones. He was a car admirer, with a sharp eye and mind. His kindness and thoughtfulness spread through his love of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends received from 3-7 PM Wednesday November 19, 2025 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday at St. Clement Catholic Church, Fr. William Rosenbaum. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Germany, PA.

In Lieu of flowers please contribute to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org. in his memory.
