Herman Lester Hooper, 98, of Midland, Texas, passed away on February 13, 2024 in Midland, Texas.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:45 pm on Saturday, 2/17/24.  The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.  Burial will follow at the Crane County Memorial Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols.  

Herman was born to Henry Lester Hooper and Ida Mae (nee Childers) Hooper on November 15, 1925 in Girard, Texas.  He married Bettie Jean (nee Reeves) on August 2, 1968 in Odessa, Texas.  He worked as a welder and had his own company, Weepy’s Welding, for many years.  Herman was a veteran of WWII and served in the Navy.  He was involved in the Masons and in Square Dancing Exhibitions with his wife, Bettie, for many years.

Herman is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettie, on 12/10/16, and by his daughters, Fran and Pam.  He is survived by his son, Doug, and his grandchildren, Jeremiah White, Matthew Hastey, Shane King and Michelle (Erik) Cox, Christopher Weinscott and Decker Reese as well as several great-grandchildren.
