Herman Younger McGarrah, age 90, of Fayetteville, AR, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was born on October 25, 1933, in Lowell, AR the son of the late Coley McGarrah and Ida (Birge) McGarrah.
Herman was self-employed (owner) of Herman’s Tire Service in Cave Springs, Arkansas. He started his tire business in 1958 and worked until his son, Bob, took over the business and continued for another 20 years. Herman’s Tire Service was closed on December 31, 2017.
Herman was of the Pentecostal faith and served the Lord most of his adult life and has always been faithful to his church.
He enjoyed working, spending time with his family, and gardening. He was known for his green thumb in growing tomatoes and turnips.
Herman is survived by his son, Bob (Arlene) McGarrah of Springdale; granddaughter, Carmen (Tony) Anderson of Tontitown; and a great granddaughter, Lauren Anderson of Tontitown; sisters, Edna Hazen of Ramona, CA; Almeta (Kenneth) Linn of Siloam Springs, AR, Shirley (Bob) Linn of Siloam Springs, AR, and Sue (Jimmy) Lane of Lowell. AR, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty of 65 years; a sister Oga Grizzle; brothers Manuel McGarrah, Kenneth McGarrah, Howard McGarrah.
