A memorial gathering for Emelita (Emily) McGarrah, 56, will be held Tuesday September 9, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
Emily was born on September 13, 1968, in Quezon City, Phillipines, and moved to the United States with her military family at the age of 5. She went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2025.
In 2003, Mrs. McGarrah married Phillip Dale McGarrah, Jr. in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and sought to enrich their lives through love, understanding, guidance, and patience as she believed that loving her kids and family and putting them first was the truest way to be happy. The same caring nature extended to her career where she worked tirelessly in processing, auditing, and global roles to help ensure food was safe to eat for everyone.
She attended high school in West Fork, Arkansas, and continued her education receiving three master's degrees: Business Administration from South University in Savannah, Georgia, Food Safety from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, and in Nonprofit Management from Louisiana State University at Shreveport.
Emily is survived by her husband of 23 years, Phillip Dale McGarrah, Jr, and their two children, Phillip McGarrah III and Melina McGarrah, and two older children Britany Caputo, and Jeremy Swanson; grandchildren Briliana and Isabel Caputo; her sisters Lita Miranda, Maria Maier, and Regunda Tagalog; and nieces and nephews Carlos Jr, Marisa, Isabella, Liana, and Celestina.
