Hilary N. (Salkin) McGovern, 56, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home in Dighton, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Passaic, NJ, daughter of the late Burt and Judith (Rosen) Salkin, she was raised in Wayne, NJ, moved to Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School, class of 1987. She then attended Springfield College and graduated in 1991. In 1996, she married Timothy P. McGovern, and together they enjoyed over 28 years of marriage and raised their two beloved children. In 2007, they moved to Dighton, and it quickly became their home. Hilary was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed working alongside her daughter at New England Dance Academy in North Attleboro as a Front Desk Attendant for the past 3 years. Previously, she worked as a Nail Technician at several area spas, including Elite Day Spa in Rehoboth and The Cuttery in Brockton. Hilary also sold Rodan and Fields skin care and enjoyed her clients and helping them with their skincare. In 2018, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and later would be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Over the years, she shared her healthcare journey with her Facebook family and drew strength from their support and well wishes as well as inspiring others with her courage and grace. At home, in her free time she enjoyed her DIY Projects, painting and decorating. Her most cherished times were spent surrounded by her family, children and her dogs, Ellie Mae and Dublin, and the late Tyco and Layla.
In addition to her husband Timothy P. McGovern, she is survived by her two children, Nolan T. McGovern of Providence, RI and Gwen J. McGovern of Dighton and her longtime boyfriend Michael Allard of Rehoboth. She was the sister of Aaron J. Salkin and his wife Kathy of Sharon. She was the niece of Carol Micklin and Gerry and Vicki Rosen and was the cousin of Arlene Micklin. Hilary is also survived by her in-laws, David McGovern of TX, Daniel McGovern of FL, Patricia McLellan and her husband Ken and Terance McGovern all of NC and Janet McGovern of Lakeville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 12 Noon to 3 PM with Family Reflections at 3 PM. Donations in Hilary’s memory may be made to the Mass General Cancer Center, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101 or to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s’s Pl., Memphis, TN 38015
