Obituary of Hilda Milbauer
Hilda (Hildi) Weinstein Milbauer, age 99, departed this world peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. She was very devoted to and proud of her children, as well as to her extended family and many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she cherished with all of her heart and soul. Hildi had a lot of good friends and continued to stay in touch with them throughout the years by talking on the phone, sending cards, and always remembering their birthdays! She was one of eight siblings who predeceased her, born to immigrant parents who came to Ellis Island then to Brooklyn and Sheepshead Bay by way of Odessa, Ukraine.
Hildi was a long-time Rockland County resident, earning her Bachelor's in English from Dominican College at age 73 and was an exemplary employee of the Rockland County Department of Social Services in Haverstraw, NY for many years.
She loved to read, watch old movies, cook, eat lobster, stuffed cabbage and Chinese food, paint pictures, knit scarves, celebrate the holidays with her family, travel to other countries, play Mah-Jongg and bowl with her friends in a league at Hi-Tor Lanes. Hildi lived life to the fullest, leaving a legacy for her family to follow, imparting her wisdom to those she cared about; she definitely left her mark, and we are blessed to have had her in our lives.
"Just close your eyes and you will see all the memories that you have of me. Just sit and relax and you will find I'm really still there inside your mind. Don't cry for me now I'm gone for I am in the land of song. There is no pain, there is no fear, so dry away that silent tear. Don't think of me in the dark and cold for here I am, no longer old. I'm in that place that's filled with love, known to you all, as "up above".
