A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6, at 1pm at People's Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Hilda, the youngest of four children born to Herbert and Bessie Bowen, was born February 16, 1937, in Greene County. She worked in Farmville for various companies, including North State Garment Company, Belk-Tyler and Farmville Furniture Company. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Billie Earl Spear; and siblings, Ruth McLawhorn, H. M. Bowen, and A. T. Bowen.
Hilda is survived by her children, Trina (Frank) Calfee of Greenville, Jeffrey (Johnette) Spear of Farmville and Cindy Williams of Greenville; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hildas's memory to the People's Baptist Church or Greenville Christian Academy, 1621 Greenville Blvd SW, Greenville, NC 27834.
