Farmville – Mrs. Myrtle Jean Baker, 84, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10th from 1-3pm at Smith Funeral Service to celebrate her life.
Myrtle was born on May 24, 1941, to the late Adron and Dollie F. Batten in Johnston Co., NC. She was employed with the Shirt Factory in Wilson, the Dress Factory in Bailey, and the Sewing Factory in Farmville. For 12 years, she owned and operated Baker Cleaning Company in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. In addition to her love for her family, she was known for her love of flowers and cats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Earl Baker; sister, Mary Edna Shrum; brothers, Charles Brooks Batten, William Eugene Batten, and Johnny Wayne Batten.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Baker; children, Belinda Gail Leggett and husband, Rob and Tony Scott Parrish and wife, Darlene; granddaughter, Alicia Gail Salinas and husband, Thomas; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison, and Lillian Salinas.
