Hilda Mame Summers, 96-½ years, passed away November 18, 2024 at her home in Liberty, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family.
Hilda Aldersen was born May 20, 1928 in East Palo Alto, California, to Elsa Wieselqvist Aldersen and Wallis Alderson. On April 16, 1948 she married Paul Kenneth Summers in Carmel By the Sea, CA. She was blessed with two children, Wendell and Paulette. She served as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for her children. Her family lived in the San Francisco Bay area and she was a homemaker. She was always proud of the time she spent soldering circuit boards in an electronics plant. Her family enjoyed boating and camping on the weekends.
Hilda began her Christian journey on a trip to Missouri for her granddaughter's birth. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. She joined First Baptist Church in Grass Valley, CA, and was active in the children's ministry. Hilda enjoyed sewing, tole painting, knitting and crocheting. After the death of her husband, she moved to Liberty, Missouri, to be close to her daughter. She was active in church, and she joined the senior stitchers sewing group at the Liberty Community Center where she enjoyed cross stitch and knitting. She knitted hats and scarves for the homeless, and was proud of a prayer
banner she cross stitched and donated to the Liberty Police Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel Harper; husband, Kenneth Summers; and son, Wendell Summers.
She is survived by daughter, Paulette Summers Shockley (Lloyd); grandaughters, Suzie Shockley, Tara Summers, and Kathy Benavidez (Frank); great grandchildren, Kris Poe, Theresa Gatewood (Don), Luke Noel, Jasmin Brown, Ciara Brown, Paul Benavidez, and Nora Benavidez; and great great
grandchildren, Carleigh Poe, Donny Gatewood, Bentley Gatewood, and Ava Gatewood.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Missouri City Christian Church, 412 Main Street, Missouri City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to service.
