Hobert Lockeys “Keys” Townsend passed away in the hands of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025. Born on February 8th, 1937, in Banner Elk, NC, Keys lived a life of dedication to his God, his country and his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jolene Hubbard Townsend; three brothers, Joe, Gaither, and Jacob Townsend; sister, Carolyn Townsend; and parents, Clarence and Charlotte Townsend.
He is survived by his two daughters, Diane Blevins (Jerry), and Sandy Begley (David); three grandsons, Derek Olson (Juanita Housewright), Chris Blevins (Brandy), and Dustin Olson (Carrie); the father of Derek and Dustin, John Olson; two step-grandchildren, Nate and Keelie Begley, and Racheal and Scott Pritchard; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor David Begley officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Posts 3/265.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and friends.
