Clyde "Hodo" Strickland, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be Monday, July 7, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in Randall Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lili and Clyde Strickland, his brothers-in-law Don Barnes and Terrell Stewart, his nephew Tom Barnes and niece Teri Stewart Kirkendoll. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 57 years, Judy Turner Strickland, his sister Sue Barnes, his daughters Susan Stabler (Stephen), and Missy Brazil (James), his grandchildren Hill and Hayes Stabler and Garland and Lili Brazil, his sister-in-law Patsy Stewart and his nephew John Barnes. He is also survived by David and Izzie Kirkendoll, Sam and Jack Barnes and Sherrill Barnes. Hodo was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, attended Tuscaloosa High School, Sewanee Military Academy, and The University of Alabama where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He served in the United States Army in the 841st Military Intelligence Detachment. He worked with the Tuscaloosa County Sales Tax Board, where he met his wife, and later as manager of Security Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was a realtor with Cooper Realty and worked in the college bookstore business. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where he served for many years with the Lazarus Ministry. Throughout his life he also devoted years to volunteering with the Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl and numerous other civic and social organizations. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and spending time with friends. He adored his wife and girls and was thankful for his sons-in-law, Stephen and James. He was a proud "Pop" to his grandchildren. His family is forever grateful for the kindness, love and care given to him during these last months by his beloved doctors, nurses and caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be given to Christ Episcopal Church's Lazarus Ministry or Hospice of West Alabama.
