Hollie "Ed" Stover, 65, of Centralia, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at his home.
Ed was born on Thursday, September 3, 1959 in Centralia, to Frank and Inez (Snider) Stover.
He is survived by his life long partner of 30 years: An Holzer of Centralia, his sister: Linda Shumaker and her husband Ron of Decatur, and his brother: Larry Stover of Springfield. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Michael Shumaker and his wife Tricia of Mount Zion, Todd Shumaker and his wife Michelle of Mount Zion, Keith Stover of Springfield, and Sarah Stover of Springfield.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Inez Stover, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Stover.
Ed was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Centralia and was known for his commitment to his faith. As the owner of Cupboard Natural Foods, he was able to reflect his commitment to the community. A lifelong enthusiast of NASCAR, Ed found joy in the thrill of the races. He also enjoyed watching the stock market, always keen on understanding the ebbs and flows of the financial world. Ed had a passion for helping others in their time of need. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his smile was very contaigous. Everywhere that Ed went, he never met a stranger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, with Rev. Paula Comper officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on the same day from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Centralia or the American Legion Post 446 in Centralia, and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, IL 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Stover family.
