Hollis Richmond Walker

Hollis Richmond Walker, 87, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Hollis was born on Tuesday, January 31, 1939, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Haile Walker and Ruby Ann (Flatt) Billingsley.

Hollis was a loving son, husband, father, Pa, and friend. He loved the Lord and attended Willow Avenue Church of Christ for 60 years, where he loved to greet anyone who walked through the doors with a warm handshake. He loved children, especially his grandchildren, and getting to spend time with them. He was a truck driver for many years, owning his own business with his two boys since 1987, Walker Diesel and Trucking. He loved the rodeo and supporting his grandsons, Ben and Cole. He loved going to Cookeville Cavalier Football games with Tommy Speakman, Joe Hix, and Eldon Burgess. Hollis was loved by those who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Hollis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Frances (Poteet) Walker; Son, Randy Walker and his wife, Myra; 4 Grandchildren, Amy Self and her husband, Nathaniel, Blake Walker and his wife, Hannah, Ben Walker and his wife, Kenzley, and Cole Walker and fiance, Leyton; 3 Great-Grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Hollis was preceded in death by his son, Donald Richmond Walker.

Funeral Service for Hollis Richmond Walker will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence Deloach officiating. Interment will follow in the Rob Draper Cemetery, Gainesboro, TN.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ben Walker, Cole Walker, Everette Vanhooser, John Poteet, George Simpson, and David Rhea. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Poteet, Callie Neal, Puggs Watts, and Rick Ramsey.
