Michael Benton Delape

Michael Benton Delape, 44, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Michael was born on Monday, June 29, 1981, in Cookeville, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Michael John Delape Jr. and the late Kimberly Kay (Gaw) Parrett.

Michael was someone who felt most at home with grease on his hands and a project in front of him. He enjoyed working on vehicles and took pride in doing the job himself. He loved riding motorcycles and spending time unwinding with old arcade games or watching his favorite movies.

More than anything, Michael cared about his family. He loved being a dad and valued the time he was able to spend with his four boys.

Michael's time here was shorter than anyone would have wanted, but the impact he made in his own quiet way will remain with those who knew him. He will be missed, remembered, and talked about often.

He is survived by his children, Gage (Hannah) Delape of Knoxville, Kaleb Delape, Mikey McKinnis, and Kyrin Sanders, all of Cookeville; his 2 brothers, Daniel Delape of Sparta, and Eric Gaw of Cookeville; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and close friends. He is also remembered by Bryde Steward, who shared life alongside him and loved him greatly.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Michael John Delape Sr. and Imogene Frances (O'Connor) Delape, and his maternal grandparents, Thurman Benton Gaw and Norma F (Mayfield) Pharris.

Funeral Service for Michael Benton Delape will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Gay officiating the service, along with special words shared by the family to honor Michael's life.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
