Homer Baker, 85, of Alexandria, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home surrounded by family on the farm he loved.. He was born July 28, 1940, in Jackson, KY. Homer dedicated 32 years to the Campbell County School system as a teacher, bus driver and coach of the girls' basketball team. Homer loved music. He could find a song to sing for any situation. He loved to play the guitar, banjo and mandolin and although he enjoyed many varieties of music, Gospel and Bluegrass Music were his favorites. He was a member of many music groups over the years. Homer never met a stranger and was known for his jokes. He was loved wherever he went. Homer loved the Lord and attended Persimmon Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Georgia (nee Keith) Baker; two grandchildren, Joel Barnhart and Justin Barnhart; brother, Carl E. Baker. Homer is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anita Carolyn Baker (nee Martin); three children, Melissa Ritter, Larry Baker (Kimberly) and Julie Barnhart (Greg); three sisters: Edna Mullins, Irene Gaddis and Evelyn Mitchell; six grandchildren: Sarah Baker Goepper (Gunnar), Jacob Baker (Mackenzie), Max Ritter, Luke Baker, Josie Barnhart, and Jase Barnhart; two great grandchildren, Maggie Baker and Cayde Baker. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Persimmon Grove Baptist Church, 10471 Persimmon Grove Pike, Alexandria, KY 41001, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Jeremy Moore and Reverend Greg Boyd officiating. Interment in the Persimmon Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Persimmon Grove Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Alexandria Funeral Home.
