Skip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy, his daughters Lori Groce and Jennifer (John) Preston, and his 4 grandsons Joshua Preston, Christopher Shore, Jacob Preston, and Jonah Preston.
Skip enlisted in the United States Navy as a journalist in August,1962 and retired in Norfolk as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in November, 1985. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service, he continued his journalism with the civil service working for The Soundings Newspaper and The Flagship where he retired in August, 2005.
A celebration of life of will be held at 11:00 am, Friday September 12th, 2025 at Bayside Christian Church. 2224 Greenwell Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.The burial will be at a later date with full military honors at the Beaufort South Carolina National Cemetery.
