SCAGGS
Homer "Jack" Scaggs, Jr., 88, of London, Ohio was born on June 30, 1936, to Homer L. Scaggs, Sr & Marjorie Downey.
On June 30, 1956, he married the love of his life Georgia Newsome. They had 4 children Jeff, Luana, Tami & Jacque.
Jack was a man of all trades, he loved working and helping people. Spending time with his family was so important to him. He loved being with all his family and especially his grand and great grandchildren. Enjoyed camping with family and friends Glen & Lucy Estepp at Rocky Fork State Park for many years. Jack loved his garden and always raised enough produce to feed the community and helped with the canning and freezing each year with his wife. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dear friends Glen Estepp, Ron Cress and Gary Clemans, and he always looked forward to going to the Farm Science Review each year with his brothers. Jack worked at McCord's, then at Creamer Sheet Metal but his passion was farming where he worked for a dear family friend Herbert Wisecup. He became part owner of J & J Excavating with Jerry Beauman in 1974. In 1980, Jack and son-in-law Tim Barker bought J & J Excavating to become a family-owned business. Retiring in 2004, he enjoyed camping and gardening. Jack was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds! While in ICU, we actually streamed one of the Buckeyes games for him to watch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Georgia (Newsome), Son Jeff (Audrey) Scaggs, Daughters: Luana (Tim) Barker, Tami (Jeff) Kiser and Jacque (Tommy) Hutslar. Also survived by grandchildren: Megan Witteman (Rick), Jessica (Dusty) King, Heather Robison, Courteney (Adam) Smith, Troy (Emily) Snider, Allen Hutslar, Taylor (Nathan) Rogers, and Jack Thomas Scaggs. Great grandkids: Morgan, McKenzie, Bella, Liam, Zoey, Layne, Bryce, Trenten, Andie, Rhett, Vera, Lilly, Laney, Lucy and Peyton. And the best 4-legged friend Jack (his Jack Russel Terrier). Brothers: Norman "Sam" (Betty) Scaggs, Larry "Wendy" Scaggs & Roger "Gale" (Candy) Scaggs. Sister Bonnie Sparks and Aunt Elsie See. Several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sisters: Barbara Echard, Joan Teeters, and Brenda Scaggs, and Brother Carl "Frank" Scaggs.
We would like to thank the staff at Mt. Carmel Grove City for the care that they gave to our husband, dad and grandfather during his stay and especially to Dr. Chitkara, Dr. Santa-Emma (Palliative Care), ICU nurses especially to Megan & Joey, and 6th floor nurse Alyssia for all your loving touches you gave to him and our family during this time. Mt. Carmel is so very fortunate to have each of you on their staff. To Russ Tope for taking care of dad's garden and the lawn, it made him smile with gratitude. Thank you to the Mt. Carmel Home Health Hospice nurses for your caring and kindness to him and our family: Pam, Anna, Ashley, Erica; Social worker Mellisa and Massage Therapist Shelia. We will forever be grateful to each and every one of you!
