Homer "Smitty" Clarence Smith, age 86 of Chesapeake City, Md went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Homer was born on August 24, 1936, in Indiana, PA to the late Blair and Dorothy (Stuchell) Smith. Homer was one of eleven siblings. During high school he worked at Neelers Bottle Company. He met his wife Barbara Ann Henry and they were married on July 25, 1958 and together they raised four children. They then moved to New Jersey, and Homer worked at General Motors for seven years. He transferred to the plant in Newport, Delaware, retiring after 30 years with GM.
Homer enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening especially growing tomatoes. He was a sweet and fun father who loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son, Eddie, and grandson, Danny. He was also preceded by his brothers, Blaine and Jake, and his sisters, Thelma, Betty, Sandy, and Arleen.
Homer is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Mitchell) Kogut, JoAnn (Bill) Dill, and Terry Smith, and daughter-in-law, Terri Smith, his grandchildren: Jennifer, Dar, Laura, Stephanie, Zach, Jamie, Andrea, Jake, Ben, and his great-grandchildren: Madison, Dominic, Cagney, Phaedra, Tristan, Liam, Marcus, Valen, Kylie, Sawyer, Isla, Rowan, Chloe, Brynn, Chase, and Azazel and great-granddaughter, Raina. He is also survived by his brother John, and his sisters, Mary Lou, Arvilla, and Gloria.
While we are grieving the loss of our dad, pop pop, and pap, we take comfort in the knowledge that he is with his Father in heaven for eternity.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 28th at the Eastern Shore Bible Baptist Church, 13984 Gregg Neck Rd., Galena, MD 21635. Friends may call from 11 AM – 12 Noon, the service will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
