Homer Clarence Yoder

Homer Clarence Yoder, 91, of Midland, went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on June 11, 1932 to the late Clarence and Delila (Miller) Yoder in Midland, MI. Homer married the love of his life Janet Kay Gordon on April 13, 1957 and they share nearly 67 loving years together.
Homer, Janet and family moved to Eagle Village in Hersey, Michigan in 1970 to serve as houseparents working with at-risk youth. This service opportunity was a time of spiritual growth and in 1975 Homer accepted a call to the ministry at Moorepark Church in Three Rivers, Michigan. Homer served as pastor for 28 years until he retired in 2004 and moved back to Midland where he volunteered with Senior Services delivering meals and transporting seniors to appointments and served as a deacon for the past 15 years at their beloved church, Christian Celebration Center. Homer deeply loved God, his family and ministering to others. He was a blessing to so many.
Homer is survived by his wife; Janet Yoder, children: Mike (Jayne) Yoder, Mark (Diane) Yoder, Sheila (Ed Zuercher) Yoder, Tenley (Steve) Starks and Randy Williams; grandchildren: Sarah (Stephen) Maye, Joshua (Jackie) Suderman, Lindsay (A.J.) Smith, Amanda Yoder, Becca (Brennan) Walker, Alison (Joseph) Mumaw, Katelyn Zuercher, Jordan (Jessica) Starks, Lindsay (Scott) Little, Leah (Jeff Demjanenko) Starks; adored great-grandchildren: Ava, Jaren, Harrison, Parker, Carter, Emmy, Brady, Livi, Beckett, Hattie and Warren. and siblings: Dorothy Shank, Janet (Arlin) Martin, and Lois Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Delilah (Miller) Yoder and sister: Ruth Yoder and brother-in-laws: Lyn Miller and Orville Shank.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on February 24, 2024 at Christian Celebration Center with Pastor Dean Grabill and Pastor Don Duford officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30am until time of service. Homer will be laid to rest in the Homer Township Cemetery.
