Hoover Mabe, 94 of Jackson Springs, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at his home.
Mr. Mabe was born September 10, 1929 in Stokes County, a son of the late Raymond Henderson and Harriett Carroll Mabe. He was a longtime member of Derby Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, song leader and provided special music for many years. He worked for JP Stevens in Aberdeen, but his favorite job was farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Blue Brown Mabe, siblings, Richard, John, Cicero, Junior and Zollie Mabe and Gerline Hudson and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his children, Barry Mabe, Michael Mabe, Debbie Gilhousen, Pamela Hudson and Brenda McCaskill; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, Roger Mabe and David Mabe; sister, Carol McGuire and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Derby Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Carpenter officiating. He will be laid to rest immediately following beside his beloved wife in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.
