Hope L. McCarty, 65, of Pickering St., Brookville died Monday, July 21, 2025 at her home of natural causes.
Born in Johnstown on December 11, 1959, she was the daughter of the late John Niper, Sr. and Mildred Cordwell Niper.
She was a graduate of Perkiomen Valley High School.
On August 22, 1999 in Elkhart, IN. she married David McCarty, Jr. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2019.
Prior to her retirement in 2019 she had been employed by Elkhart Products as a machinist.
Her pastimes included watching the Phillies play baseball, reading, going out for ice cream, going out for breakfast (always bringing the leftovers home for the dog), and spending time with family and the nieces and nephews she helped raise.
Her survivors include numerous nieces and nephews; her brother in law, Wayne Terwilliger; and her cats, Sam and Charlie and her dog, Malachi.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, John Niper, Jr.; her sisters, Judy Niper, Kathy Niper, Barbara Niper and Diane Terwilliger; and her dog, Jack.
Her family will receive friends from 10AM-12Noon on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA.
Interment will be at St. John's/ Windy Hill Cemetery, Stanton, Jefferson County.
Her family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mrs. McCarty's memory to either the Cancer Society or an animal shelter of one's choice.
