Horace Patton, Jr., 82, of Nebo, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation.
Horace was born in Burke County, NC, on September 26, 1941, to the late Horace Graham Patton and Florence Ellen Reed Patton. He was married to his wife of 57 years, Dolores Wise Patton. He served his country proudly in the Army National Guard and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church #1 in Morganton. He was a firefighter with the Longtown Volunteer Fire Department in Nebo. Horace was a loving husband and father. He will always be loved and remembered.
In addition to his parents, Horace was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Smith; and a brother, Robert “Cotton” Patton.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dolores Patton; a daughter, Renee Brittian (Tim); two sisters, Leatha Tripp and Dorothy Grigg (Carmie); five brothers, Paul Patton (Donna), Johnny Patton (Debbie), James Patton (Mary Jane), Steve Patton (Carolyn), and Kenneth Patton (Jean); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Pete Cox will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountain View Baptist Church #1 Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Longtown Volunteer Fire Department.
