Horace Strickland, better known as “Big Horace”, 76, of Albemarle NC, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:39 a.m., surrounded by his loved ones.
Horace was born May 10, 1948 making his grand entrance in Fairmont, North Carolina and raised by his maternal grandmother, “Ma” Isabelle Strickland.
Horace was a hardworking man, that loved his family, friends and so many more. He had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold beyond imagination. He always thought of others before himself and never met a stranger. He will truly be missed and life will never be the same without him. We will forever carry his memories in our hearts.
He was also preceded in death by his (Daughter) Vickie Sue Strickland, (“Ma”) Isabelle Strickland, (Brother) Graham Poston, (Sister) Elizabeth (Larry), and a very special Mother-in-law, Maggie Hammonds.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Munson.
Survivors include: Son, Horace (Crystal) Strickland, Jr., Daughter, Teresa (Chris) Helms of New London, NC Son, Terry (Heather) Strickland of Albemarle, NC, and Daughter, Jennifer Strickland (Nick Blake) of Troy, NC. He had (8) Grandchildren: Ryan (Kristin)Strickland, Cheyenne (Chad) Page. Logan, Abigale and Landon Helms. Dakotah, Skylar and Easton Blake. He had (6) Great - grandchildren include: Baylee, Lane and Coyt Strickland, Jolene Hartsell, Kyle and Miles Page.
