New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Horace Walker, Sr., 64, at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, with Pastor Paul Godfrey officiating. Entombment will follow Nativity of Our Lady Cemetery, 130 N. Richelieu Circle, New Iberia, La.
Visitation will be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service.
Horace was born in Erath, Louisiana, on May 20, 1959 to the late Norris Walker, Sr. and Florence Williams Walker. He was a native of New Iberia/Morbihan, LA. Horace departed this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Iberia Medical Center.
Horace was educated in the Iberia Parish School System, then joined the Army National Guard. He was a hard worker, joker, and an avid Saints fan. He loved his family and friends more than he loved himself. He will be missed dearly by all.
He leaves to cherish fond memories of his life, his wife of 23 years, Madeline Thompson-Walker; his one and only son, Horace Walker, Jr.; two daughters, Roche (Joseph, Sr.) Thibodeaux and Lauren (Whitney) Guilliam, all of New Iberia; a brother, Norris (Paula) Walker, Jr. of St. Martinville; sisters, Flora W. Locks, Gladys (Merrick, Jr.) Mallery, and Gertrude (Willie, Sr.) Chretien, all of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren; one goddaughter; two godsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He will be reunited with his parents, Norris Walker, Sr. and Florence Williams Walker; granddaughter, Lyric Angel Walker; brothers, Robert Landry, Wilfred Antoine, Clifton Williams, Sr., Cleveland Williams, Sr., and Jesse Walker, Sr.; sisters, Beatrice Landry and Shirley Walker-Smith; maternal grandparents, Walter Williams, Sr. and Mary Louise Johnson Williams; and paternal grandparents, Oliver Walker, Sr. and Bessie Gaddison-Walker.
Active pallbearers are Horace Walker, Jr., Joseph Thibodeaux, Jr., Nigel Thompson, Wilfred Chretien, Willie Chretien, Jr., Joseph Thibodeaux, III, Christopher Williams, and Whitney Guilliam.
