Houston Dickens Jr., 91 years of age, a resident of Metairie, LA., entered eternal rest on Friday August 22, 2025. Husband of the late Mae Ida Veals Dickens. Father of Lee Ottis Dickens and the late Derrick Dickens. Stepfather of Donald Veals, Sr. Brother of Essie Dickens, Marie McNeal, Devores Barron, Frances Windsor, Wilma Jean Chapman and Nathaniel Dickens, and the late Mary Louise Dickens Williams, Helen Hampton and Robert Lee Dickens. Domestic Partner of Yvette W. Rivarde. Also survived by four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastor, officers and members of Historic Second Baptist Church, are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday August 30, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at Historic Second Baptist Church 2505 Marengo Street New Orleans, La. 70115. Viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. (service time). Rev. Robert B. Jackson officiating. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, 8200 Airline Dr. Metairie, La. 70003.
