Mildred Knight Brooks

Mildred Knight Brooks, born December 2, 1927, in Cannonsburg, Mississippi, entered eternal rest on August 9, 2025, at the blessed age of 97. She was the cherished daughter of the late Elijah, Sr. and Queen Ella Knight and the devoted wife of the late Charles Brooks Sr. She was preceded in death by two brothers Elijah Knight, Jr. and Johnny Knight and two sisters Estella Jackson and Lillie K. Irving. A graduate of Brumfield High School in Natchez, Mississippi, Mildred went on to dedicate her career to Baptist Hospital, where she was respected for her care and service. Above all, Mildred found her greatest joy in her family. She was the proud mother of six children: Alma Andrews, Cassaundra Brooks, and Elfreda Brooks. The late Charles Jr., (June) Darryl, and Gerald Brooks, (G-money) who preceded her in death. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who made each of her children and grandchildren feel deeply cherished. Mildred lived a life anchored in faith, always valuing God as the head of her life. Her legacy of love, devotion, and strength will continue through her children, grandchildren, great great grandchildren and all who were blessed to know her. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loved ones who preceded her and now rests safely in the arms of the Lord. Celebration of Life services honoring Mildred Knight Brooks will be held at Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home, Inc. 2715 Danneel Street, New Orleans, LA 70113 on Saturday August 23, 2025, with a viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. followed by service at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Irving Dean officiating. Interment: Selstown Cemetery, Stanton, Mississippi.
