Howard Brod Obituary
May 12, 1951 - April 12, 2025
Howard Worrell Brod, 73, broke our hearts with his passing on April 12, 2025. A devout Quaker, his work here was done, and done well.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sara Brod, and his three sons Brandon (Daniel), Justin (Kelly), and Dylan (Sarah).
In addition, he is survived by six grandchildren whom he adored, Eden, Jackson, Harper, Fletcher, Finnigan and Logan; and a loving sister, Deanne (John).
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard, and his mother, Della.
He was born in the town of Huntington on Long Island, NY and moved to Chesapeake when he was 12 years old. After becoming a father, the family moved to Chesterfield, and later Powhatan.
Howard was courageous, profoundly decent and full of energy. He poured himself into being a great father and husband. After retiring from Dominion Energy, he dedicated much of his time to volunteering. He co-founded Midlothian Friends Meeting and founded local non-profits The Thrifty Quaker and FriendShare. Countless community members have benefited from his vision and generosity.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit local community members in need by giving to FriendShare, care of The Thrifty Quaker, 13567 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian VA 23113.
There will be a remembrance of Howard's life on Saturday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Midlothian Friends Meeting. The family will privately scatter his ashes at a special location at Midlothian Friends Meetinghouse at a later date in a private ceremony.
