Howard S. Bycroft, 83, of Roseville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at his home in the arms of the only woman he ever loved.
Howard was born August 17, 1942, in Monmouth, IL, to Clarence and Mary (Beard) Bycroft. He was raised and educated in Roseville, where he attended Roseville High School and began developing the strong work ethic that would guide him throughout his life.
On July 14, 1962, Howard married Susan Felt in Roseville, Illinois. Their marriage of more than six decades was a source of deep joy, partnership, and devotion. Susan lovingly survives him. Howard’s greatest joy in life was his family and he thoroughly enjoyed harassing and teasing those close to him. He was also a legendary prankster and those blessed with a prank from Howard can attest to this.
Howard spent his entire life farming in the Roseville area, a vocation he cherished. He took great pride in working the land and caring for his livestock, and he remained dedicated to agriculture until his retirement. Beyond farming, he found pleasure in collecting and showing antique IH tractors and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting. After retirement Howard enjoyed spending time watching birds and squirrels bickering in the yard. He also served as past president of the American British White Park Association (ABWPA), reflecting his commitment to the farming and livestock community. Howard was a committed member of the Roseville Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving Howard is his wife, Susan Bycroft of Roseville, IL; two children, Bonnie (Ron) White of Roseville, IL, Vic (Leigh) Bycroft of Ft. Dodge, IA; his grandchildren, Josh (Leanna) Anderson of Muscatine, IA, Rachel (Brandon) Blackman of Kirkwood, IL, Aysah Dondlinger of Brookings, SD; three great grandchildren; and several step grand and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Ellen Solomon. Also awaiting him on the other side of the rainbow bridge are his faithful companions, Rags and Patchy.
