Brian D. “Doc” Elliott, 67, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the Allure of Lake Storey, Galesburg, IL.

Brian was born September 8, 1958 in Monmouth, the son of Charles W. and Dorothy (Bertram) Elliott. He was raised and educated in Roseville, graduating from Roseville High School in 1976. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Monmouth College in 1984.

Brian married Tonia Murphy in Monmouth on June 15, 1985.

Brian started out as the manager at the Filling Station in Monmouth in 1985 all along while teaching 6th Grade at the Alexis Elementary School from 1985-87 and working part time at the Monmouth American Legion. Brian later worked for several newspapers, include the Monmouth Daily Review Atlas, Galesburg Register Mail, Burlington Hawkeye, Macomb Journal, Peoria Journal Star, and papers in Ohio, Kansas, and North Carolina, mostly as circulation manager on and off for over 20 years beginning in 1988. Brian worked for the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce as Executive VP from 1995-1998. He was named Business Man of the Year. Before retiring, Brian was a substitute teacher for the Monmouth-Roseville and United School Districts, retiring in 2023.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth where he served on the Council. He was also a proud Alumni member of Monmouth College and ATO Fraternity.

Brian enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns, James Bond movies and had a great interest in classic cars. He was very community oriented and loved meeting people, he especially loved going to Living Windows during the Christmas season and attending the local car shows. His family was very important to him and loved attending his grandchildren’s numerous activities.

Survivors include his children, Brandon M. Elliott, Lacey (Dave Westlake) Elliott and Brooke (Jon McCutcheon) Elliott; his grandchildren, Landon, Elliott, Gage Elliott, Konner Elliott, Kaylee Teel, Jordin Stockdale, Natalee Stockdale, Ryder Johnson and Taytum Johnson; his brother, John Elliott of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother-in-law, Rod Olmsted; niece, Tracey Hall and nephew, Kristen (Diane) Waller, numerous cousins and his ATO brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen Olmsted and Christa (Bill) Waller.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation will take place following the funeral services with a private family interment at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Brian Elliott Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
